Dear Members,

Happy New Year and wishing everyone a safe, healthy and happy 2026.

On behalf of the Humber Curling Executives, our apologies as this is a long email but we’ve attempted to break it down into three sections; (1) Spring Registration, (2) Curling Clinics and (3) Toronto Parks Survey Request.

Best regards, Humber Curling Executives

1. Spring Series Registration:

Registrations are open starting today and up to including Friday, Jan. 16th! Select your preferred playing mornings based on your availability, keeping in mind that spares may be hard to obtain! If you are unavailable to play for more that 2 games per series then it might be best, to just sign up as a spare for that series, indicating your availability dates, in order to help those looking for spares!

New members please reach out to Kevin Quinlan @ (647) 533-6792 or If you need assistance with series registration!

Details regarding each morning league and playing dates can be found below:

https://humber-seniors.curling.io/en/events/26887-friday-house-league-spring-session-2025-6

Select “Schedule and Results” within each link in order to obtain all the actual playing dates for each morning

For eg. There will be a large gap(3 weeks) on the Monday schedule from Feb 9 until Mar 9thdue to other activities taking precedence at Mississaugua.

2. Curling Clinics:

As interest continues, on the days that league curling is scheduled, Curling Clinics will continue to run on Wednesday (Kevin Quinlan) and Friday (John Rudd) mornings.

If you’re not scheduled to play or have a bye-week please, consider coming out to our clinics.  Clinics will continue to focus on Stick and Traditional Delivery, Weight, Line of Delivery, Takeouts, Advanced Sweeping Techniques and/or any particular aspect you want to focus on.

If you’re you have any questions or requests, please reach out to Kevin Quinlan @647-533-6792.

3. Toronto Parks Survey Request:

Call to action, please take a few minutes to complete the survey below and support curling in the west end of Toronto.

You have heard from John Rudd over the years, as a member of the West End Curling Committee (WECC),  go on about the need for a new curling facility in West Toronto.  As you know curling in West Toronto was enabled by private golf courses – St. Georges, Weston, Lambton.  A similar situation existed across the rest of the GTA – Scarborough, Bayview, Annandale, and Board of Trade.  The closure of curling at all of these private golf clubs was driven by a strategic decision on their part to make their clubs exclusively golf – curling had to go.  That leaves the entire West Toronto of nearly one million people with no where for curlers to curl.  Of course, that is why Humber Curlers ended up at Mississaugua Golf & Country Club (MGCC).

While curling at MGCC has been excellent, wouldn’t it be great to have the option to curl close to home at a facility of our own in Etobicoke-York?!

WECC has been patiently working with the City of Toronto since 2019 to fill the void.  Long story short, the City is updating their Facility Master Plan including an Ice Strategy and it is imperative that curling be featured prominently in the update if there is to be any hope of City support.  The link below, which leads to a survey, is one way to make sure the voice of curlers across Toronto is heard.  The cutoff date for completing the survey is Jan. 25.  There is a free-form section for comments.  This is a perfect spot to explain why curling is important to you why we need to City of Toronto to help meet the need that exists.

John can give lots of background if you would like to hear more!

Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey.  We need all the help we can get.

Cheers, John

Senior Men’s Curling Bonspiel

The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club hosted a successful Senior Men’s Curling Bonspiel on November 19th, highlighted by great sportsmanship and competitive play throughout the day. There were six teams from MGCC and four visiting teams in the bonspiel.

Thanks to Old Credit Brewery for their beer sponsorship for the event.

Congratulations to the winning rink, the Humber Curlers – Team Gillespie, featuring Skip Bruce Gillespie, Vice Joseph Caruso, Second Kevin Quinlan, and Lead Alec Duncan. The spiel also included a competition testing 3 curling skills where prizes were awarded to 3 Mississaugua curlers (Sean McGuckin, Roman Kozanczyn and Brian Carley) and one visiting team member (Alec Duncan).
